help John Graham-Cumming build Charles Babbage 's analytical engine

I just pledged $10 to help John Graham-Cumming build Charles Babbage 's analytical engine.
Babbage designed the analytical engine, a Turing complete computer in 1833, a 100 years before Alan Turing published his paper on the Turing machine. If you want to see this steam powered brass mechanical computer get built, pleas...e pledge and be a part of history!

Bandwidth Throttling Vs Bandwidth Capping

I read an article on Slashdot the other day and was surprised to find that most people seem to prefer bandwidth caps over throttling. Of course everyone prefers neither, but if asked to choose one over the other most people seem to prefer capping.

Chimney Repair - how to repair a cinder block chimney.

I noticed several searches for chimney repair in my logs to my gallery, so here is a how too.

First off you will need some tools / materials.

Google gets search wrong in Chrome

Does anyone else think that is funny that Firefox has way better search capabilities than that of Search engine giant Google's Chrome?

I am sure this will get fixed. Google does have some really nifty search features like hashmarks along the scrollbar allowing you to see all matches at a glance. This is similar to most diff and merge applications, but Chrome doesn't seem to be able to search in form fields. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Anolog is better than Digital for state type things!

There are times when analog is a better design choice than Digital. This is especially true for state type things such as selecting a mode on a universal remote.
Most universal remotes these days have a series of digital buttons across the top to select the state / mode such as:
(TV) (Cab/Sat) (VHS) (DVD)
The problem is, without a little LED telling you which state the remote is in, you can't tell by looking at the remote what state it is in and that LED would be a constant battery drain.
Compare that to a good old fashioned analog toggle or sliding switch.

Chimney Repair

I am currently repairing my chimney which was badly water damaged. I started this project when my Dad was visiting and it turned out to be a much larger project than we both anticipated.

Dodge Gas Guarantee

I just saw an ad for Dodge's latest promotion, Dodge Gas Guarantee. If your sales are suffering because gas prices keep going up, build more gas efficient cars. You don't encourage people to waste more of a precious resource by guaranteeing a lower price. A part of me hopes gas prices go up to 10 dollars a gallon and they are forced to renig on their promise.
